Introducing Rev. Scott Johnson

I surrendered my life to the Lordship of Jesus at a revival in 1994. I have been a graphic artist, printer, and business owner.

After surrendering my life to Christ, I mainly focused on my business, Gamecock City Printing. I would use my spare time to volunteer in the youth ministry program at my home church. I mentored 7-8th-grade boys and led the youth praise team. During this time, I also met my beautiful wife, Chandra.

While dating, I began to sense a call into ministry, specifically youth ministry. After a few years of ignoring the call, I finally surrendered to it, sold my share of the business to my partner, and enrolled at Columbia International University to begin studying for a career in ministry.

In September 1998, I began interning at a church in Lugoff, South Carolina. This was my first venture into youth ministry as the lead youth pastor. From that point on, I have served in youth and children’s ministry for 27 years. I see this calling to minister to youth, children, and their families as a lifetime ministry.

I have said that I want to remain a youth pastor for life. At 49, I recently asked the Lord if I’m still supposed to be a youth pastor and if I’m released to work in another area of ministry. The Lord has not released me, and I feel called to keep investing in our young people’s lives until He calls me home.

I enjoy spending quality time with my family. I also enjoy reading books —

autobiographies, theology, and comic books. I like to collect things. I also enjoy binge-watching sitcoms from the 80s and 90s with my wife. I’m also into coffee, Pepsi, and slushies. I also enjoy a good dad joke:

What weighs more, a gallon of water or a gallon of butane? A gallon of water. Butane is a lighter fluid.

I’m extremely excited about getting to know and serve alongside the families at Bethel Baptist. I have a heart to reach Sumter, especially the rural area, with the Good News of Jesus Christ and the desire to see families grow closer to the Lord.

Let's goooo!!

Scott
